Russ the Story Bus

Russ the Story Bus is no ordinary bus – he’s covered in illustrations, has a belly full of books and is a mobile library open for you to borrow from. Each year, Russ the Story Bus visits over 10,000 children in Western Sydney and regional NSW to support children at the very beginning of their reading journey and spark a lifetime love of storytelling, reading and creativity. Come chill out, borrow a book and enjoy the wonders of Russ the Story Bus these school holidays.

When: 10.30am - 12.30pm, Wed 2 Oct - Sat 5 Oct

Art Cube Creations

Help bring giant art cubes to life with an interactive colouring activity that's perfect for kids of all ages. Get ready to bring your creativity to life at Darling Harbour's art cube adventure. Renowned illustrator James Gulliver Hancock has taken his magic to blank art cubes, transforming them into lively canvases just waiting for your touch. These giant cubes will be sketched out in a playful paint-by-numbers style, so all you need to do is grab a brush and let your inner artist shine.

First Nations Storytelling Workshop

Explore Dreamtime with art, music, and storytelling and discover the rich cultural heritage of Gamilaroy Country. Get ready for an enchanting 2-hour interactive workshop with Heartdancers, designed to spark imagination through arts and crafts, music, nature and storytelling. Kids will move between two stations, exploring the lively culture of Gamilaroy Country.

Big City Building Workshop

Build a sustainable city from reclaimed materials and learn eco-friendly techniques along the way. These school holidays, kids will roll up their sleeves and dive into creating a model city using reclaimed materials. They’ll learn how to craft a thriving, eco-friendly city, exploring cool techniques like slots and tabs—with no glue needed! It’s a fun, hands-on way to discover green building practices and how to make a positive impact.

Plant Workshop

Grow, bloom, and blossom in this free interactive plant workshop for kids. Dive into plant-tastic fun these school holidays at Darling Harbour, with Urban Grow! Discover the magic of how plants grow from seed to bloom. Kids will begin the activity by making their own seed raising mix, using bug filled worm castings, compost and potting mix. From there, kids will choose from a range of edible and flowering varieties of seeds and seedlings to plant into biodegradable pots.

Cartoon and Comic Book Characters Workshop

Unleash your creativity and learn how to create your very own cartoon or comic book characters in this fun and interactive workshop by Toon Creations! A new drawing session kicks off every 15 minutes during the 2-hour period, with a quick 5-minute reset in between to prepare materials. This workshop is open to all age groups, making it perfect for budding artists of any level.
