Monkey Baa is excited to be a presenting partner for the 2022 British Council Australia #UKAUSeason as we host the ‘Drawing Words’ exhibition during the upcoming April school holidays.
Visit our foyer at ARA Darling Quarter Theatre to experience 10 amazing illustrators from across the UK whose work makes an important and original contribution to contemporary British picture book illustration.
Curated by Lauren Child, the exhibition brings together some of the most exciting children’s book illustrations to come out of the UK in recent years and we can’t wait to welcome you to experience the craft and wonder.
Illustration workshops
Come and get creative! Whether you’re a first-timer or an experienced young artist, join illustrator and muralist Christina Huynh for a fun and colourful drawing workshop. Using Christina’s picture book Grandma’s Treasured Shoes as a starting point, the workshop will invite each young person to draw, sketch, decorate and colour their perfect shoe. *Workshops are made possible by the British Council and all materials are provided.
As Grandma’s Treasured Shoes tells the story of a grandmother’s journey from Vietnam to Australia as a little girl, the workshop will also be an opportunity for young people to share stories and exchange ideas.
