Fijian collective VT1S is coming to Powerhouse Ultimo for a night of music, film, dance, markets and talanoa.
VT1S is revolutionising the sounds of Pacific music with their blend of tropical beats and story in-language, clocking millions of streams internationally. Their live show promises a dynamic journey across time — island style.
Hip-hop and cultural dancers The Pioneers, Noqu Vanua Youth Initiative and Matavai Pacific Cultural Arts will be performing, short films by Tumeli Tuqota and Pelesasa Pictures will be screened, plus industry talanoa around the kava bowl facilitated by MC Trey with music producer Tropic Thunda, entrepreneur Tix, artist entrepreneur Kobie Dee. There will also be weaving workshops, markets and music by DJ Kayza.
This event is the first in a PAWA music series. Taking its name from a Pacific (Melanesian) word for power, strength and spirituality, the PAWA series will celebrate Indigenous cultures of the region, amplifying stories and sharing music by fostering creative practice and development.
