Meet WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo’s Aussie big five

Australia is home to some of the world’s most unique and fascinating animals and they’re all here at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo. That includes the iconic Aussie big five: koalas, freshwater crocodiles, wombats, platypus and kangaroos. Head up to our Koala Rooftop Café and see our fluffy koalas! Kangaroo walkabout is home to a mob of six cheeky Western Grey Kangaroos, named Dot, Dusk, Kirby, Nutmeg, Frankie and Julie. There’s also a boisterous wombat named Ringo and three freshwater crocodiles to meet.

Explore 10 interactive zones

If you’re wondering what’s on in Sydney this weekend, chances are there’s something exciting happening in each of WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo’s 10 interactive zones featuring some of the world’s most endangered creatures:

  1. Tricky Tongues and Treetops: a split space with one side designed for our echidnas, and the other for Kofi the tree kangaroo.
  2. The Devil’s Den: thick grass and underground burrows hide Mirrin & Dharra, a couple of critically endangered Tasmanian Devils.
  3. Wallaby Cliffs: meet Ringo the wallaby and his friends the yellow-footed rock wallabies burrowing and causing mischief.
  4. Daintree Rainforest: a gigantic replication of Queensland’s Daintree Rainforest home to Princess the Southern Cassowary and a family of pademelons.
  5. Kangaroo Walkabout: meet WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo’s famous kangaroos.
  6. Crocodile Billabong: if you’re brave enough descend into Crocodile Billabong to three freshwater crocodiles.
  7. Platypus Pool: get up close to the Platypus, one of the world’s most bizarre animals, and learn about their weird and wonderful feeding and child birthing behaviours.
  8. Nightfall: keep your eyes peeled in this nocturnal habitat to discover creatures that venture out after dark like sugar gliders and bilbies.
  9. Koala rooftop: Get up close to our super cute koalas! Book a our koala photos experience at Koala rooftop and you can go inside the enclosure and get closer than ever to Australia’s most iconic animal.
