A “Rubik’s Cube” where each side of this moveable ‘shape-shifter’ opens up to reveal three distinct configurations; devised to house a variety of interactive, all-age activities.
Friday 2 - Sunday 11 March
Welcome to the PLAY POD – a life-sized ‘Rubik’s Cube’ of outdoor activation brought to you by Hoyne and Scott Carver. Modular, engaging and adaptable, each side of this moveable ‘shape-shifter’ opens up to reveal three distinct configurations; devised to house a variety of interactive, all-age activities as part of the Sydney Design Festival.
A spot for kids to play. A space to unwind. A book swap. A classroom. A cinema. A stage… So much more than the sum of its sides, the Play Pod is multi-faceted and unmissable.
9.30am – 11am
Designed for under-fives, Play Pod’s morning session will capture imaginations and foster learning. With an emphasis on make-believe, this side of the Pod will open up to book-lined shelves and an area that invites the littlies to participate in book swaps, story time, arts and crafts, and more in collaboration with Monkey Baa Theatre Company and others.
12.30pm – 2pm
Early afternoon, the Play Pod becomes a platform of inspiration for students. With interactive sessions and talks from academics at UTS and professionals within the design industry, the Pod will be an intimate space for students to ‘lean in’ and learn from great design minds as they share their creative processes.
6.30pm – 8pm
After dark, the Pod lights up to become Sydney’s smallest cinema. An immersive meeting place for art and culture, the Play Pod will offer after-hours entertainment and support recognised and emerging artists from the local community. Catch it while you can.
