Darling Square Library
The brand new Darling Square Library is now open, in the vibrant neighbourhood at Darling Square.
This exciting hub for learning, innovation and creativity is spread over 2 floors of The Exchange Building. Wrapped in over 20km of timber ribbons, the unique spiral-like building was designed by Japanese firm Kengo Kuma & Associates.
Inside and on the outdoor terrace there’s plenty of space to read, work and study, with free wifi throughout and public computers. Meeting rooms, including a large seminar and workshop space are available for hire.
The Ideas Lab on level 1 is a dedicated makerspace and multipurpose room to create, invent or tinker. The program of hands-on workshops features 3D design and printing, robotics and electronics to help startups and curious makers upskill, share knowledge and network.
There’s also a colourful children’s area and weekly bilingual rhymetime and storytime sessions.
Open 7 days a week, members can borrow from over 30,000 items in the library, including a large Asian language collection.
