Lunar Lanes Street Party
Kick off the Lunar New Year celebrations on 25 January with a day packed with activities at Darling Harbour.

Opening Ceremony Lion Dance, 10am
Begin the Lunar New Year festivities with a traditional lion dance at the Chinese Garden of Friendship.
Mahjong Garden, 12pm – 5pm
Learn to play the traditional Chinese game Mahjong at the Chinese Garden forecourt.
Darling Square stage, 2pm – 9.30pm
A showcase of Asian contemporary and pop music performances including The Dani Bui Band, Sophie Koh, DJ Dumplings and Rainbow Chan.
Lunar Block Party, 2pm – 8pm
Urban dance workshops, demonstrations and battles to watch and participate in. Head to Pier Street underpass (next to Darling Square) to catch all the actions. Also included is a battle at the end of the night with a Lunar Block Party award presented.
Twilight Garden Party, 6pm – 9pm
This one night only special event at Chinese Garden of Friendship will feature live performances by three incredible Asian-Australian performers, Milan Ring, Jade Zoe and Shelley. Soak in the Garden’s ambiance while listening to their chilled out lounge music vibes.
Face painting, Harbour Street, 5pm – 8pm
Children can have their faces painted with their Lunar Zodiac animal.
Vietnamese Woodblock workshops, Harbour Street, 5pm – 8pm
Make your own artwork inspired by Vietnam’s Lunar New Year (Tet) woodblock printing traditions! These prints, each with a different meaning, are used to decorate the family home during this festive season.
Carnival rides & games, Harbour & Sussex streets, 5pm – 10pm
Enjoy a trip on the Ferris wheel or a ride on the spinning tea cups.
Sussex Street Stage, 5pm
The Sussex Street stage will feature cultural performance groups from across Sydney ready to share their culture with traditional and contemporary dance, Korean drumming, Japanese hip hop and fashion shows. They will be joined by the singers, dancers and acrobats of the Shaanxi Performing Troupe, one of Korea’s top b-boy crews MB Crew and a closing set from 6 piece band Erween.
Lion and Dragon Dances, 5pm – 10pm
More than a dozen lion and dragon dance troupes from across Sydney will perform throughout the event over the evening. From 8.30pm, the magical LED lion and dragon dance troupes will light up the night.
